Clear Vision, Proactive Eye Care.
Primaris Vision is Dr. Michael Yu's full-scope optometry clinic in Calgary, where eye care goes beyond a new prescription. Comprehensive exams, medical eye care, and surgical co-management, all led personally by an experienced doctor who knows your eyes and tracks them over time.
Eye Exams
Comprehensive eye exams go beyond updating a prescription - we evaluate how your eyes work, screen for disease, and tailor a plan to your lifestyle and work demands.
Lenses, Frames, Contacts
We help you find lenses, frames, and contacts that fit your prescription, comfort needs, and everyday style. From clear vision at work to comfortable all-day wear, we guide you through options that support how you live, look, and see.
Dry Eye Treatment
If your eyes burn, water, or feel gritty, you may have dry eye. We measure tear film quality and gland function to pinpoint the cause, then build a plan, from at-home hygiene and prescription drops to in-clinic therapies when needed.

Our Care Philosophy
-
Proactive, not reactive: We screen for glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, and more—before issues impact daily life.
-
Personalized plans: Clear recommendations you can act on, from lens designs and work-specific solutions to medical treatment when needed.
-
Coordinated care: Direct communication with your Primaris physicians and specialists for seamless referrals and follow-up.
-
Access that fits real life: Same/next-day appointments when we can, and efficient visits that respect your time.

What is Dry Eye?
Dry eye happens when your tears don’t lubricate properly - either from poor tear quality (meibomian gland dysfunction/evaporative dry eye) or not enough tears (aqueous deficiency). Symptoms include burning, grittiness, watering, light sensitivity, fluctuating vision, and contact lens discomfort. Left untreated, it can affect day-to-day comfort and clarity.

Dry Eye Treatment
If your eyes burn, water, or feel gritty, you may have dry eye. We measure tear film quality and gland function to pinpoint the cause, then build a plan, from at-home hygiene and prescription drops to in-clinic therapies when needed.

How We Help
We start with a focused assessment to identify the cause, then build a stepwise plan. Treatments may include:
At-home care
-
Warm compresses & lid hygiene (to clear oil glands)
-
Preservative-free lubricating drops/gel
-
Omega-3 & lifestyle guidance (screens, environment)
Prescription therapies
-
Anti-inflammatory eye drops (as indicated)
-
Short courses of medicated ointments or drops for blepharitis/allergy
-
Autologous serum or specialty options (case-by-case)
In-clinic procedures
-
Meibomian gland expression (thermal/manual)
-
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) / Radiofrequency (RF) for MGD (if offered)
-
Punctal plugs to conserve tears
-
Amniotic membrane/bandage lenses (selected cases)
Contact lens solutions
-
Scleral or specialty lenses for severe dryness/contact lens intolerance
Expect a personalized plan with measurable milestones (comfort, vision stability, gland function) and follow-ups to fine-tune results.
